Town eases watering restrictions

SAINT-LAZARE (Québec) - September 13, 2010

Considering the residents’ excellent cooperation up to now, the numerous precipitations and the actual water reserve, Ville de Saint-Lazare can ease the watering restrictions on outdoor use as per:

Allowed at all times
With a hand-held hose equipped with an automatic shut-off nozzle or gun:
   · The watering of plants and vegetable gardens;
   · The watering of lawns;
   · The outdoor washing of cars, walls and windows.

Car wash fundraising event are allowed subject to having obtained a permit* beforehand.

The complete ban remains however for:
   · The watering of sod or sowing. No permit will be delivered.

From Monday to Thursday, between 11 p.m. and 6 a.m.:
   · The complete filing of a pool, subject to the acquisition of a permit beforehand.    · To maintain the water level in a pool (water loss to evaporation) – no permit required.

* You can obtain the permit at the Urban planning department’s new location at the Complexe professionnel Saint-Lazare located at 1967 Chemin Sainte-Angélique (Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. and 1 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.).

Year-round ban
   · The washing of driveways or access alleys is forbidden at all times.
