Ville de Saint-Lazare would like to provide its English speaking community with an overview of the Official French Public Notice concerning the replacement zoning and subdivision by-laws number 771 and 772 published on April 5, 2008 in the Première Édition newspaper (page 58). During the January 8, 2008, Council session, members of Council adopted, in compliance with article 539 of the Act respecting elections and referendums in municipalities, the replacement zoning by-law number 771 as well as the replacement subdivision by-law number 772, whose title and purpose are described below:
| 771 Zoning by-law

772 Subdivision by-law |
The purpose of these by-laws is to replace the zoning and subdivision by-laws. These by-laws have provisions subjecting them to an approval by way of referendum. Their main purpose is to be in conformity with the planning program of the municipality and the revised replacement land use planning plan of the MRC. |
Qualified voters entitled to have their name entered on the Town’s referendum list may request that these replacement by-laws be subjected to a referendum poll by entering their name, address and capacity in the required register and by signing it.
Before exercising this right, voters must confirm their identity by presenting their health insurance card delivered by the RÉGIE DE L’ASSURANCE-MALADIE DU QUÉBEC, their driver's permit or temporary permit, plastified and delivered by the SOCIÉTÉ DE L’ASSURANCE AUTOMOBILE DU QUÉBEC, their Canadian passport or any other document delivered by the government and recognized by it as a means of identification.
Registers may be accessed from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Thursday, April 17, at Saint-Lazare’s Town Hall located at 1960 Chemin Sainte-Angélique.
The official French by-law texts can be consulted from Monday to Friday between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. at the Saint-Lazare Town Hall. Copies of the official French by-laws may be obtained upon payment of the required fee.
Following the registration procedure, a referendum poll could be held if the required number of signatures reaches 500 for by-law number 771 and 500 for by-law 772. If this number is not reached for each of the by-laws, they will be considered to have been approved by those able to vote.
The result of the registration procedure will be announced on Thursday, April 17, 2008 at 7:05 p.m. at the Saint-Lazare Town Hall.
