Ville de Saint-Lazare would like to remind dog owners to keep their dogs leashed
as soon as they leave their property, whether on roads, in the woods, in the
fields or on La Pinière trails.
For some time now, incidents have been multiplying between dogs and horses,
particularly on the trails of La Pinière where dog owners let their dogs roam freely.
So far, several horses have been bitten and one horse threw its rider on the ground
when it was surprised by a dog. These incidents, which could have been serious,
were caused, in every case, by presumably obedient dogs which ignored their owner’s commands.
We ask that you abide by the nuisance By-law (RMH 450) which, as you know,
makes offenders liable to a fine of up to 200 $.
Remember riders are legally authorized to circulate on all public roads.
We ask you to slow down before crossing or passing them and to maintain a safe distance!
Mutual respect will allow everyone to live in harmony: riders should stay on the edge
of the road and not ride on private property, homeowners should not prevent riders
from using public roads.
