On Wednesday, May 4, 2011, Mrs. Chantal Latreille and Sabrina Addison-Thibault, members of the Cyclo-tour organizing committee, surprised Sophie Ménard, a kindergarten student at À l’Orée-du-Bois School, by announcing that she had won the Cyclo-tour logo art contest. Sophie was awarded a $150 gift certificate from Saint-Hilaires Bicycles in Saint-Lazare and saw her drawing become the official 2011 Cyclo-tour logo.

The Cyclo-tour logo art contest was launched in April at Auclair and À l’Orée-du-Bois elementary schools. All grades participated with great enthusiasm in the contest and set about inventing a new logo for the 2011 Cyclo-tour. The drawings were then judged on originality, color and respect of the cycling theme. One drawing was chosen for each grade then a final winner was selected at random from those drawings. Each student in Sophie’s class received a free rental from Superclub Videotron and a Cyclo-tour T-shirt displaying the winning drawing on it.

The Cyclo-tour, a family cycling event, will be held on June 5, 2011 at 10 a.m. at the Parc Bédard in Saint-Lazare. We invite you to join Sophie and her family at the Cyclo-tour. After the ride, participants are invited to buy a hotdog and enjoy activities in the park. Please be environmentally responsible: use your bike to come to the event and bring a reusable water bottle.

You can save 50% on the registration fee if you register before Sunday, May 22, 2011 at Saint-Hilaires Bicycles (1806 Route de la Cité des Jeunes) or Pharmacie Brunet (1771-A Chemin Ste-Angélique). You can also register at the community centre (1301, rue du Bois) from Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 12 noon and 1 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.
