SAINT-LAZARE (Quebec), July 7, 2010
Saint-Lazare announced yesterday that Director General Lucie Gendron
will leave her functions over a 3-year phased approach. She will
gradually assume the part-time roles of Internal Consultant, to Town
management and Council, and of Project Manager until her expected date
of departure at the end of 2013.
At the Town’s service for almost 15 years, Gendron has expressed to
Council her desire to pursue new venues while ensuring the progressive
transfer of her responsibilities to her future successor. Considering
the size of the task and the number of projects Council has on its
agenda, Gendron has agreed, for the duration of the Council’s mandate,
to pilot strategic projects while giving a helping hand to the rest of
the municipal team until she officially leaves.
« After working for the Town for almost 15 years, I am very proud of the
work accomplished. Despite the fact that my years of service as Director
General were very fulfilling both on the human and professional levels,
I am ready to move on to something new. The time has come to hand on the
torch and pursue some longtime dreams. »
Although saddened by the news, Mayor Pierre Kary, says he understands
Gendron’s decision. He wishes her the best of success while she
transitions into new aspects of her career.
Let’s recall that in 2008, during her unpaid leave of absence, Mrs.
Gendron entered the international scene while working for a Cameroon
community Mayor in Africa, allowing her to widen her horizons
and career opportunities.
The Town will contract a recruiting firm specialized in hiring
executives to fill in the vacancy before the spring of 2011.
