You’re 8 years old or older? Pony club wants you! Français
Saint-Lazare (Québec), August 18, 2008

Imagine belonging to a club whose only purpose is to learn, laugh and share knowledge about horses and ponies. Welcome to Lake of Two Mountains Hunt Pony Club (LTMH), where everyone is included and children can reach their riding potential without ever having to own their own horse!

LTMH is unique. Not only are we the only pony club in Quebec (and flourishing with over 35 members), we are also expanding. LTMH is affiliated with the Canadian Pony Club and is part of the St Lawrence/Ottawa Valley region (SLOV). This allows us to participate in many events with other clubs in our region. Regional events include winter camp, quiz, rally, and competitions (riding and horsemanship). This year we are expanding our programs to include PPG (Prince Phillip Games) – games played on ponies and tetrathlon (ride, swim, shoot and run). We also have a Christmas musical ride guaranteed to put a tear in the eye of all who attend.

LTMH uses the resources of Free Spirit riding school, located in the equestrian zone of Saint-Lazare and Hudson, which operates solely as a learning institution. Free Spirit provides for us the horses and ponies, a large indoor arena with adjoining stable and a heated tack room. There is an outdoor jumping course, a professionally made dressage ring and a beginner schooling ring. LTMH has access to a new clubhouse that is used for horsemanship classes (theory), meetings and celebrations. We have 2 certified Level 1 coaches who compete in hunter/jumper, eventing and dressage shows. Each brings their expertise to the learning experience.

Riders are taught in a systematic way (much like in martial arts, swimming or gymnastics) and must test in their level before moving to a higher level. Foundation work is essential to producing happy, confident riders who are able to enthusiastically perform any of the riding disciplines (jumping, dressage, eventing, etc.) Through partnership with Free Spirit, LTMH has been able to produce riders of remarkable talents.

Pony Club is a non-profit organization. Participation is a 10-month training commitment (September to June). Packages range from $185 per month to $500 per month. Riders may ride 6 to 15 times per month depending on the package that they choose.

Our club has heart. We are looking for boys and girls 8 years and older of any riding level who want to share their love of these wonderful animals with other children. Cooperation, teamwork, friendships and encouragement is what pony club can offer your child.
