Give me 5! For everything! Français
The Town would like to reemphasize the importance of not leaving anything within a feet range from the side of the road (1.5 metres) or in the municipal right of way which could interfere with snow clearing operations. Not only can it be damaged by the snow clearing crew but it can also compromise their safety and that of motorists. It is strongly recommended to deposit your garbage and recycling bin in your private entrance 5 feet from the road (no more than 7 feet for your recycling bin because of the mechanical harm) and to not deposit anything on snow piles.

During storms, visibility is poor for snow clearing operators. Your garbage bin can barely been seen by the operator sitting in his cabin. He also has to take into account cars driving in the opposite direction and stay focused on the road in difficult road conditions. He cannot stop for every bin that has fallen and cannot always go around them because of oncoming traffic! So respect the minimum clearance required!

Planning any landscaping or installation ahead of time and knowing your municipal by-laws are essential to avoid expensive surprises during these operations.

Give us 5 for everything including:

· Garbage bins and bags
· Recycling bin (clear 2 feet around it and don’t place it farther than 7 feet for the mechanical harm)
· Branches and stumps (follow disposal instructions ville.saint-lazare.qc.ca/branchesregular)
· Fences of all types (wood, metal, snow, etc. – they must be approved by the Town)
· Temporary or permanent installations (temporary car shelters – must be installed according to by-law)
· Stone or support walls (according to by-law)
· Snow markers (wood or plastic only – No metal please, they’re dangerous)
· Automatic sprinkler heads

Before any construction, renovation or installation, it is essential that you consult the urban planning and zoning department to know the limits allowed for any installation by the margin of your property.
