SAINT-LAZARE, Québec, May 30, 2011
At the 32nd edition of the annual symposium of the Association des
communicateurs municipaux du Québec (ACMQ), the Town of Saint-Lazare was
awarded a Golden Feather in the Internet and new media category for its
Facebook page. Golden Feathers are awarded to towns as a mark of
recognition of their know-how and efforts as regards communications.
The Town of Saint-Lazare submitted its Facebook page which was launched
in October 2010. The Town’s main goal was to promote the life of the
community, its vitality and its activities in order to attract and
engage Generations C and Y who are more difficult to reach by
conventional media such as local newspapers, traditional publications,
electronic newsletters, phone polls and the Town’s website! Youngsters
under the age of 20 represent 30% of our town’s population and in the
last few months, Saint-Lazare has succeeded in reaching them as well as
many dynamic elders and workers interested in community life. The
Facebook page enables the Town to sound out its residents and get their
instantaneous reactions. Since its implementation, the Facebook page has
shown constant growth.
The Town wishes to thank all the fans of its Facebook page for their
energy, comments and daily contribution. The Town also thanks the
members of the ACMQ jury who have recognized the merit of this project.
