In paper bags only
Last fall leaf collection on November 21
Français
Saint-Lazare (Québec), November 16, 2009
So successful in 2007 and in 2008, the MRC de Vaudreuil-Soulanges decided to hold another leaf pickup this fall. Only residential units (identified in beige on the map) will be serviced for this collection. In Saint-Lazare this represents all residences outside of the green agricultural zone (Project leaf map MRC)

Residents who wish to participate to this collection must use biodegradable paper bags of 110 litres (35 gallons) or of a 16" x 12" x 35" dimension. There are no limits of quantity.

These bags are also available at our local hardware dealers and supermarkets. Each paper bag costs on average $0.60 or less.

The use of paper bags contains numerous advantages, on one hand, they are biodegradable, compostable, are resistant to humidity, do not collapse and, on the other hand, the rate of contamination is far less when leaves are collected in paper bags. Furthermore, this bulk packaging, unlike plastic bags, is cheaper in terms of handling cost and much better for the environment.

Leaves will be recycled at one of our local farmers and also at a local nursery. Recycling with a regional partner is a major advantage from an environmental point of view because the MRC has the opportunity to value its leaves on its territory instead of transporting them outside.

The MRC will not distribute free paper bags. For information on this collection, contact the MRC at 450-455-5753 or write at info@mrcvs.ca.

Hoping to count you among our voluntary participants!
