For the 5th consecutive year, Saint-Lazare firefighters are visiting Saint-Lazare homes to:
- Promote prevention measures to eliminate fire risks in the home;
- Publicize municipal fire safety by-laws and make sure residents comply with them.
In all cases, firefighters will be easily identifiable. They will carry identification at all times, will come with an identified vehicle and will wear a service outfit.
Two topics are the focus of the firefighter’s visit:
- Smoke detectors, which must be present and functional in every home.
- Civic addresses, which are mandatory and must be visible from the road to allow emergency vehicles to identify your home quickly.
In both cases, owners will be reminded of the importance to pay special attention to these protection devices and will have to make the necessary changes requested by the fire department to comply with the municipal by-law.
