SAINT-LAZARE (Québec), December 14, 2009
More than 4000 people met on Tuesday, December 8, 2009 along the Torch
relay route to welcome this Olympic Game emblem. Several VIPs joined the
celebrations including Soulanges MNA and Deputy Whip for the Quebec
government Mrs. Lucie Charlebois as well as Saint-Lazare resident
Josée Corbeil, 1996 Olympic athlete. In his speech, Mayor Pierre Kary
encouraged parents to help their kids pursue their dreams “Let’s
encourage them to pursue their dreams and never give up!”
The Town handed out 100 official red Olympic mittens and a 1,000 Torch
Relay and Canada flags to participants.
Numerous activities were held to celebrate the passage of the flame:
tam-tam players, fire eaters, aerobic sessions, fire barrels, etc. IGA,
Pharmaprix gave out free granola bars and Remax agent, Kevin Owen, sold
hot-dogs to profit the Hudson Music Club.
