Unveiling of the Artist Who Will Transform the Public Piano
In March, Ville de Saint-Lazare launched a call for artists to transform a public piano into a colorful and vibrant work of art. After analyzing the various concepts proposed, the organizing committee, along with the Cultural Advisory Committee, selected the winning design. It is the work of Saint-Lazare resident Catherine Leroyer.
The jury was won over by the choice of bright colors in harmony with nature, and by the inviting phrase on the piano "À vous de jouer", which encourages citizens to give free rein to their creativity.
Who is Catherine Leroyer?
Born in France, in a region surrounded by nature and mountains, art and creation have always played a major role in the life of this multidisciplinary artist: painter, jewelry designer and interior designer. Art and the beautification of living environments are an integral part of her creative process.
Artistic approach
" Toute activité est une raison de combiner les couleurs, de jouer avec les textures et trouver l’équilibre dans toutes les possibilités que nous offre la nature, la peinture ou les perles et cristaux." says Catherine Leroyer.
After several explorations of various techniques (watercolor, acrylic, color, charcoal, spray paint), black and white emerged as the artist's favorite. But color is never far from her artistic impulses.
In 2023, Ms. Leroyer took part in the Route des Arts de Vaudreuil Soulanges, and saw one of her works exhibited at the Musée régional de Vaudreuil-Soulanges.
This piano, which will be on display at the Espace des Muses at the end of June, will not only be a musical instrument, but also an artistic masterpiece that will amaze and inspire our community.
This summer, seize the opportunity to play to your heart's content.
