Heat wave underway

June 18, 2024

According to Environment Canada, the extreme heat will persist until Thursday. People with cardiovascular problems and young children are most at risk. However, no one is completely safe from heatstroke. Stay vigilant and watch for the following symptoms: exhaustion, dehydration, headaches, dizziness, confusion, vomiting and/or fainting.

How can you prevent the effects of heat?

  • Keep sufficiently hydrated: drink plenty of water, without necessarily waiting until you're thirsty.
  • Refresh yourself often: if you don't have air conditioning, take a cool shower or bath, jump in the pool, sponge your face with a cold washcloth.
  • Reduce physical effort: postpone certain tasks.
  • Wear light, loose-fitting, light-colored clothing.
  • Close curtains and blinds when the sun is shining.

Never leave people or animals in a parked vehicle.

If you don't have air conditioning, it's important to take a break from the heat. We invite you to visit the Municipal Library, which is open until 8:00 p.m. from Tuesday to Friday. You can also find nice shady spots at Parc nature les Forestiers or enjoy the water games at Parc Bédard.
