Time change and smoke alarms
March 10, 2023
Saturday night, March 11 to Sunday, March 12, 2023
Friendly reminders:
Step 1: Move the clock forward one hour
Step 2: Go to bed early, as you will "lose" an hour of sleep
Step 3: Make sure your smoke alarms are working properly
Step 4: Replace the batteries in your smoke alarms
Having a smoke detector is not enough to prevent a fire: it must work properly.
Smoke detectors:
have you checked them recently?
Your Fire Safety Department would like to to remind you of the importance of testing your smoke alarms and change the batteries.
Did you know that :
- It is mandatory to have a smoke alarms on every floor, including the basement.
- Replace your smoke alarms that are more than 10 years old
- Your fire alarms (smoke, heat) connected to a central monitoring station, do not replace your smoke alarms
- It is strongly recommended that you have a carbon monoxide detector if:
- your garage is attached to your home
- you use a heating method other than electric
Prevention is not just about to-do lists: it’s mainly about peace of mind and saving lives.
