Special Urban Planning Programs (PPU)
The very first citizen participatory activity focused on the village core and Cité-des-Jeunes sectors was held on Saturday, November 12, 2022. Hosted by representatives from the Town of Saint-Lazare and L’Arpent, this participatory activity was a great success!
Several citizens, merchants and developers met in order to exchange and work together to reflect on the future of the two sectors, in the form of discussion tables and plenary sessions. Several aspects were addressed, including modes of transportation, commercial offer, public spaces, the diversity of urban activities, social inclusion and housing. Many ideas resulted from this participatory process, but similar visions emerged for each of the sectors, especially regarding the development of a sense of community, safety, adapted development, active transportation and natural areas.
During the summer of 2022, the Town of Saint-Lazare initiated the development of two special urban planning programs (PPU) for the Cité-des-Jeunes and the village core sectors. A PPU is an urban planning document that specifies a municipality's intentions for a specific part of its territory. It allows the municipality to establish planning and development objectives and propose a series of concrete measures for achieving them.
The Town would like to thank participants for their contribution to the citizen participation process.
