Ville de Saint-Lazare Receives an International Recognition
The Association Internationale des Producteurs Horticoles (AIPH) names Ville de Saint-Lazare as one of its seven (7) Certificate of Merit recipients for the 2024 International Green City Awards.
Last August, Ville de Saint-Lazare's Service de l'environnement submitted its application for the prestigious AIPH World Green City Awards 2024. The aim of the process was to measure how the various initiatives put forward in recent years compare with what is being done elsewhere in the world. As a result, Ville de Saint-Lazare not only received a positive assessment of its efforts and changes, but also an outstanding validation that will serve as an impetus to continue in this direction.
« Our city has real potential for environmental leadership, particularly in terms of inspiring by example with our green developments and our commitment to protecting our resources. To become leaders, we need to be recognized for what we do well. This also creates a sense of pride not only for our employees, but also for our residents," says Saint-Lazare Mayor Geneviève Lachance.
Ville de Saint-Lazare's application puts forward a holistic approach to protecting and restoring forest areas and creating biodiverse green spaces. As a result, Ville de Saint-Lazare joins six other AIPH certificate award winners.
For the Service de l’environnement and the Travaux publics horticulture team, it is very motivating to be able to compare ourselves with cities like Tel Aviv and Dubai. It is a great validation of the efforts made over the last few years and boosts the teams' enthusiasm for the years to come.
